Fatma
Fatma
Nadhif Khamis was born on 17 April
2004, and grew up in Jambiani as part of a humble and hardworking
family. Her father, Nadhif Khamis Mtumwa, is a farmer, and her
mother, Sharifa Faki Hamad, works in the hospitality industry.
Fatma’s parents have always emphasized the importance of education,
but with limited resources, supporting their children’s schooling
has been a constant challenge. As one of several siblings, Fatma is
grateful for every opportunity to further her studies and strives to
honour her family’s sacrifices by excelling academically.
Fatma’s
education journey began at Jambiani Primary School in 2009 and
continued through Jambiani Secondary School until her graduation from
Form 4 in 2021. Encouraged by her teachers and motivated to achieve
her dreams, Fatma worked diligently, performing well enough to earn
Division 3 on her final exams. Her success qualified her for Advanced
Level studies, and with support from the Child Development Fund (CDF)
scholarship programme, she was able to attend Aboud Jumbe Mwinyi
Secondary School. The CDF sponsorship covered essential fees, school
materials, and resources, allowing Fatma to focus fully on her
studies.
In 2024, Fatma graduated from Aboud Jumbe Mwinyi
Secondary School with Division 2. Her
results opened the door to higher education, and she was thrilled to
be accepted to the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), where she is
now pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Management and Marketing.
Fatma is passionate about building a career in tourism, a field she
believes will allow her to positively impact her community by
promoting Zanzibar’s cultural and natural heritage. Her goal is to
become a professional tour guide, showcasing the beauty of her
homeland while gaining valuable skills in tourism management. As
her family’s economic situation remains limited, Fatma is thankful
for CDF’s role in her journey thus far and is determined to succeed
at SUZA with their support, promising to work diligently and make a
meaningful contribution to her community.
